Southbridge: Veronica E. Menard, 97, of Therese Ave., formerly of Sturbridge, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18 ^th , in the Webster Manor Healthcare Center, Webster, after a long illness.

Her husband of 65 years, Joseph A. Menard, passed away in 2007.  She was also predeceased by her son, Paul A. Menard in 2013.  She leaves her two grandchildren, David Menard of Southbridge and Sara Menard of Dudley; 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and close extended family members.  She was predeceased by her three sisters, Margaret Galonek, Beatrice Hopkins and Evelyn Taylor.  She was born in Fiskdale the daughter of Anthony and Eva (Vilandre) Cuskie.

Veronica worked at the former Hebert's Candies in Sturbridge for 23 years before retiring many years ago.  She previously worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge.  She was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed playing cards.  Veronica enjoyed travelling frequently with her friends.  She was a great cook and embraced her Polish heritage.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 21 ^st , from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in St. Anne's Church, 16 Church St., Sturbridge.  Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Sturbridge.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20 ^th , from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
