Sturbridge: Catherine A. (Curran) Clarke, 89, of 78 Allen Rd., died Saturday, May 28th, in the Overlook Masonic Healthcare Center, Charlton, after an illness.
Her husband, George T. Clarke, died in 1970. She leaves three sons, James J. Clarke and his wife Jane of Wallingford, CT, Charles Clarke and his wife Elva of Big Spring, TX, and Patrick Clarke and his wife Sarah of St. Petersburg, PA; three daughters, Alice Todd and her husband David of Rusk, TX, Catherine Bousquet and her husband Michael of Sturbridge and Rosanne Waddick and her husband James of Sturbridge; a brother Hugh Curran of Florida; a sister Anna Gribbin of Philadelphia, PA; 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Her son, Michael F. Clarke, died in 2003. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Hugh and Alice (Gallagher) Curran.
Catherine worked as a secretary at St. Anne's Parish in the Fiskdale section of Sturbridge for 21 years before retiring many years ago. She was also an active parishioner at St. Anne's, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and taught CCD classes. She was a member of the Sturbridge Senior Center. She enjoyed reading and sewing and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 1st, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St. Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in St. Anne's Church, 16 Church St., Fiskdale. Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Fiskdale. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Tuesday, May 31st, from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
