Webster: Mary E. (Conlan) Decoteau, 91, formerly of Southbridge and formerly of Clinton, died Sunday, April 15th, in the Hubbard Regional Hospital, Webster, after a brief illness.
Her husband, Ernest J. Decoteau, died in 1986. She leaves a son, Ernest J. Decoteau and his wife Dale of South Grafton; three daughters, Joanne Ricketts of Quinebaug, CT, Mary Alice Cote of Worcester and Veronica Feragne and her husband Robert of Manchester, CT; her beloved brother, Joseph Conlan and his wife Marie of San Antonio, TX; 17 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John W. Conlan. She was born in New York, NY, the daughter of Michael John and Josephine (Scanlon) Conlan. She was the matriarch of both the Decoteau and Conlan families.
Mary worked for Vanbrode's Inc. in Clinton for several years before retiring many years ago. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Southbridge for 10 years. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a member of the Christopher Heights Bowling team. She was also a member of the Golden Boomers exercise group. She especially enjoyed crossword puzzles and many other word games.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, April 20th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with at a Mass at 10:00am in St. Mary’s Church of the Blessed John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Thursday, April 19th, from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Elder Bus, 124 Southbridge Rd., Charlton, MA 01507
