Biography

Fiskdale: Gloria M. Bourassa, 81, of Heritage Green, formerly of Plimpton St., Southbridge, died Monday, Aug. 20th, in the Radius Healthcare Center, Southbridge, after a short illness.
Her husband, Robert R. Bourassa, died in 1992. She leaves her son, David R. Bourassa and his wife Karen of Southbridge; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three daughters, Lucille M. Dionne in 2011, Elaine T. Cloutier in 1987 and Jeanne M. Sweet in 2007. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Norman Tavernier and Joseph Tavernier. She was born in Bristol, CT, the daughter of Albert and Rose Alma (Corriveau) Tavernier.
Gloria worked at the American Optical Co. in the Safety division and later Cabot Safety Corp. in Southbridge for many years, retiring several years ago. She was a member of the American Optical Co. Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Blessed John Paul II Parish and it's Ladies of St. Anne Society. She was a member of the Sturbridge-Fiskdale American Legion Auxiliary. One of her greatest joys was seeing her great grandchildren, it always put a smile on her face.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23rd., from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in Notre Dame Church of the Blessed John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 22nd, from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Center at Harrington, 55 Sayles St., Southbridge, MA 01550.
