Brimfield

Obituary

Brimfield - Andrew "Andy" T. Truax, 62, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24. He was a loving father, friend, business owner, neighbor, and new grandfather.

Born in Harrisburg, PA, Andy moved to Massachusetts as a young boy. He graduated from Tantasqua Regional High School in 1982, where he met many of his lifelong friends and his future wife, Cindy (Forkey) Truax. He was awarded two superlatives—Class Flirt and Talks Most, Says Least—both of which perfectly summarized his charm, charisma, and gift of gab. Andy was the life of any party and the last person you should share a secret with if you wanted it kept.

After attending Framingham State and working briefly overseas in London, he eventually settled in Brimfield, where he built both his dream home with Cindy and his business, Building Blocks Construction. He was incredibly proud of his career and loved showing off his hard work, always with a slightly unbelievable story to accompany it. He had a love of reading and likely left behind a substantial late-fee balance at the Brimfield Public Library (punctuality was always a weakness). He also loved stand-up comedy, '80s movies, music of all kinds (especially jazz on Sundays), and cooking—particularly using one of his many grills and smokers to make enough barbecue for a small army.

The pride and joy of Andy's life was his three daughters: Emily K. Truax and her husband, Nick Joseph, of San Francisco, CA; Olivia J. Truax of San Francisco, CA; and Natalie P. Truax of Brimfield. Whether he was coaching them in youth soccer, building their dream bedrooms, or traveling with them, his favorite memories came from both the big and small moments they shared as a family. He told them constantly that his greatest goal as a father was to make their lives better than his own, a goal he can rest easy knowing he accomplished, far beyond even what he had ever dreamed possible.

In addition to his children, he is survived by his mother, Sandra (Neyman) Cole; his former wife and the mother of his children, Cynthia T. (Forkey) Truax; two brothers, Chris Truax of Brookfield and Dan Truax and his wife, Jennifer, of Sturbridge; his beloved grandson, Jack Joseph; as well as many nieces and nephews. Andy was predeceased by his brother, Scott Truax.

A memorial gathering for Andy will be held on Wednesday, July 8th, at 1:00 p.m. at Hyland Orchards, 199 Arnold Rd., in Sturbridge.
