Southbridge: Antonio "Tony" Pettinella, 81, of Roger St., passed away on Sunday, June 27 ^th , in the Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after a long illness.

He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Concetta (Staffieri) Pettinella; his three daughters, Donna Montgomery of Sturbridge, Cynthia St. Germain and her husband Michael of West Brookfield and Dina Pizzella and her husband Frank of Hilldale, NJ; his four grandchildren, Tyler Montgomery, Michael Pizzella, Ava Pizzella and Wyatt St. Germain; his brother, Federico of Italy; his four sisters, Louise of Connecticut, Ida, Maria and Donata, all from Italy; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother Angelo.  He was also predeceased by his son-in-law, James Montgomery, this past February.  He was born in Tocco da Casauria, Italy, the son of Luciano and Caterina (Pietromartire) Pettinella.

Tony worked for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority for 20 years, retiring several years ago.  He previously worked for the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for 17 years.  He enjoyed gardening and trips to the casino.  He was always there to help his family and friends with anything they needed.  One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 30 ^th , from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 11:00am in St. Mary's Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 247 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, June 30 ^th , from 8:30 to 10:30am, prior to the Mass.
