Southbridge: Arthur N. "Zu" Fontaine, 88, formerly of Ashland Ave., passed away on Saturday, Aug. 17th, in the Webster Manor Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Webster, after a long illness.

His wife of 44 years, Margo (McGee) Fontaine, passed away exactly 2 years before him on Aug. 17, 2022.  He is survived by his three sons, Clifford Fontaine and his wife Janis of Brookfield, Gary Fontaine and his wife Maria of Southbridge and Joel Fontaine of Tucson, AZ; his daughter, Jane Gueldel and her husband Tom of Tucson, AZ; his two stepsons who he helped to raise, Keith Bishop of Southbridge and Michael Bishop of Southbridge; his three sisters, Connie Miles of East Longmeadow, Jean Jolin and her husband Lucien of Southbridge and Joan Fontaine of Southbridge; his brother, Norman Brodeur and his wife Janet of Sturbridge; 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.  He was born in Southbridge the son of the late Rita (LaBarge) Fontaine Brodeur, who died in 2023 at the age of 103, and Arthur W. Fontaine, who died in 1947.  Arthur was also predeceased by his four brothers, Paul Fontaine in 2008, Michael Brodeur in 1997, Donald Brodeur in 1996 and Emile Fontaine in 1962.

Arthur was a sheet metal fabricator with Southbridge Sheet Metal for many years before retiring.

His family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Webster Manor Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for the comfort and care given to Arthur during his extended stay at the Manor.

His graveside service in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge, will be private.  There are no calling hours.
