Tolland, CT: Barbara (Curboy) Gee, 84, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22nd, in the Woodlake at Tolland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Tolland, CT, after a long illness, she was a strong and courageous woman, always doing her best.

Barbara was an outstanding and beloved mother, hairdresser, gardener, golfer, artist/painter, cook, baker, and many other wonderful things. She could be found at Mr. Marshall's Salon in Southbridge and later Sturbridge, always with a smile and good cheer, and usually with her excellent and beloved partner, Marshall Martel.  Barbara excelled at golf, winning the Hemlock Ridge golf club championship 13 years in a row, and she bowled like Tommy Olsta (she said he gave her tips while she cut his hair.) She loved entertaining, staying active and making landscapes. She shared her passion for baking with her family, friends and community earning blue ribbons from the Woodstock Fair for Best Apple Pie numerous times.  She was also well known for her beautifully landscaped flower and vegetable gardens.  Barbara will be greatly and forever missed by her sons and daughter, family, friends, former clients and the entire golfing community.

She leaves her daughter, Judith Lyon and her husband William of Putnam, CT; her three sons, John Gee of Woodstock, CT, Thomas Gee of Woodstock, CT and Christopher Gee and his wife Rebecca of Woodstock, CT; her first husband and father of her children, Frank Gee; her brother, Kenneth "Nugget" Curboy and his wife Dawn of Sturbridge; her four sisters, Susan and her husband Fred Bachand of Marlboro, CT, Sylvia and her husband Roland Theriault of Sturbridge, Sally and her husband Barry Hubert of Brimfield and Sandra and her husband Richard Bennett of Sturbridge; her many grandchildren; great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Marshall Martel.  She was also predeceased by four brothers, Nathaniel Curboy, Samuel Curboy, Daniel Curboy and Kenneth Curboy and two sisters, Ruth Curboy and June Curboy.  Barbara was born in Southbridge the daughter of George and Shirley (Allard) Curboy.
