Southbridge: Betty-Jane T. Parent, 70, of Chapin St., passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, May 22nd, in the Southbridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Southbridge, after a brief illness.

She leaves her daughter, Dawna L. Skowyra of Palmer; two brothers, John N. Deveno of TN and Chad A. Deveno of Webster; her sister, AnnMarie Noe of Southbridge; her cherished grandson, Jarett M. Skowyra and two nieces, Jennifer Christiansen and Melanie Deveno.  Betty was predeceased by a brother, Joseph N. Deveno.

Betty was born in Southbridge the daughter of the late John J. Deveno and Mary (Cody) Erskine. She worked for many years at the American Optical Company in Southbridge and more recently for the Southbridge school system as a Cafeteria worker prior to retiring.  Betty had a green thumb and enjoyed taking care of her many plants.  She loved music, taking walks and playing Bingo with friends.

Calling hours for Betty will be held on Thursday, May 30th, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Services and burial will be private.
