Obituary

Charlton - Beverly A. (Brown) Melanson, 88, of Stafford St., peacefully passed away on Sunday, Dec. 3rd, with her family by her side. She was a strong, loving woman who passed away with no regrets, and a heart full of appreciation.
Beverly was born in Goffstown, NH, in July of 1935.  She is predeceased by her parents, Violet Mae and Harold Brown; her sister, Judith Hanlon; her daughter, Debra Melanson; and her "Bonus Grandson" Donald Williams. Beverly worked many years as a cocktail waitress and singer at Dino's Ristorante Italiano in Worcester in their Blue Grotto Lounge. She also worked at Bronzo's Bar & Lounge in Shrewsbury. "Bev" eventually moved on from the Worcester/Shrewsbury area to Charlton, where she has been a resident of for over 40 years. She had a deep appreciation for the town of Charlton and all of its residents. In her later years of life she volunteered at St. Joseph's Church in Charlton as a Eucharistic Minister serving at the 10 am Sunday Masses.  It was a great way for her to express her love of God to others. Bev was a Member of the Auburn Elks Lodge # 2118 with her son, grandson (P.E.R.) and her grandson's wife. She was proud of the Elks for all that they do to help people in need within our communities.  Bev also enjoyed taking part in activities at the Charlton Senior Center.  She loved her movies and TV shows, music of all kinds and ALL New England sports teams, "No matter if we're winning or not!" She loved her family and friends more than anything, and her favorite thing to do was meet new people! Many Charlton residents are familiar with Bev's nickname, "The Mayor of Charlton," which was coined because of how outgoing and friendly she was and how she loved to just chat with people about any topic and compliment how cute people's children or pets were. Her sense of humor was something memorable as well.  After having just a short chat with Bev, it was undoubtable that your day would be a little bit better because of it. There's so much more...
Beverly is survived by her two sons, Gary Melanson and Bryan Melanson and his wife Judith; her Granddaughters, Erica Oswell and Lauren Strenn and her husband Michael; her Grandsons, Michael Melanson, Reid Van Iderstine and Christopher Melanson and his wife Brianna; "her bonus grandchildren", Rick, Dena, Jenna and Sarah; her 7 great-grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and many of her other cherished family and friends. Her passing is a sad loss to us all, but to us all, any loss is a part of life. Though, Bev would not want any of us to forget the ones we love... All she would want is for us ALL to love each other, living or gone.
A funeral Mass for Bev will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7th, at 5:00 pm in St. Joseph's Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton.  Calling hours in St. Joseph's Church will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7th, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, prior to the Mass.  Burial will be private.

A Celebration of Life will also be held from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Auburn Elks Lodge, 754 Southbridge Street, Auburn, MA 01501.
