Southbridge: Carmen J. "July" Hernandez, 64, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 11 ^th , with her children by her side in the Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, after an illness.

She leaves her husband of 19 years, Damaso Aviles; her three children, Gladymar Melendez and her partner Juan Cordero of Gales Ferry, CT, Yaritza Solero and her husband Juan of Southbridge and Felix M. Melendez and his wife Michelle of East Hampton, CT; her six grandchildren, Alexa Manso, Eliezer Melendez, Jarianys Solero, Neishaliz Cordero, Kaylee Melendez and Kaylani Melandez; and her great granddaughter, Alanis K. Fuster.  She was born on Feb. 7, 1956 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico the daughter of Jaun and Maria (Rojas) Hernandez.

"July" as her friends knew her, was an amazing mother, friend and devout Christian.  Her smile would captivate a room and her faith carried her through some of her hardest times.  And wherever she went she let everyone know how greateful she was to have seen another day.  She loved attending church services at Kingdom Bridge Church in Southbridge.  During her down time she would knit hats for children diagnosed with cancer through the Fundacion Tejiendo para Angeles.  She found so much joy in giving back to others and sharing the word of God.  July was so much to so many and will be deeply missed.

Calling hours for July will  be held on Friday, Aug. 14 ^th , from 4:00 to 6:00pm in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  A graveside service in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge, will be held at a later date.
