Danielson, CT / Southbridge: Costa Rapo, 80, of Danielson, formerly of Southbridge, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5th, in the Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, CT, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Sonja A. (Bellas) Rapo; his two daughters, Melissa Richardson of Putnam and Jessica Andrews of Agawam; his granddaughter, Olivia Richardson of Charlton; his brother, Paul Rapo of Middle Haddam, CT; his sister, Louisa Nasse of Holland; and nieces and nephews.  He was born in Southbridge the son of Michael Spiro and Olga (Athanas) Rapo.  He was a graduate of Worcester State College and served in the US Army National Guards.

Costa was an accountant and worked for Cullien Engineering in Auburn for 6 years, before retiring many years ago.  He previously worked for Maki Electrical in Worcester and Stejo Construction in Manchester, CT.

Costa was a lifelong devoted member of St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church in Southbridge.  He served the church as president, treasurer, picnic chairman and an altar server.  In 2005 he was awarded the Harold of St. Constantine from the Albanian Diocese for his service to the church.

Costa enjoyed playing golf, travelling, fishing, playing cards and board games.  Costa was also an avid New York Yankee fan.

A funeral service for Costa will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8th, at 11:00am in St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church, 126 Morris St., Southbridge.  Calling hours will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8th, in the church from 9:30 to 10:45, prior to the service.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
