Fiskdale: Daniel "Danny" M. Roscioli, 81, of Big Alum, Fiskdale, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, at UMass Memorial Health – Harrington Hospital in Southbridge, MA, after a long illness.
He leaves his beloved wife of 47 years, Virginia "Ginne" (Rice) Roscioli; his daughter, Kacey Lorenson, her husband Rob, and his cherished granddaughters, Adalynne and Haylee of Southborough, MA; his brothers, Richard J. Roscioli of Berlin, VT, and David F. Roscioli of Brookfield, MA; his sister, Romona P. Kirker-Head and her husband, Carl, of Sturbridge, MA; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends whom he considered family. He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen M. Roscioli.
Born in Southbridge, MA, Danny was the son of the late Romaldo P. and Marjorie F. (McCann) Roscioli. He attended Staunton Military Academy, Staunton, VA, graduated from Tantasqua Regional High School, Stubridge, MA in 1963, and earned his culinary degree from the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, CT, in 1964.
Danny devoted much of his life to Rom's Restaurant, the iconic Italian-American eatery and family business in Sturbridge, MA, where he combined his love of food with the opportunity to serve his community. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era.
Outside of work, Danny enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, owning classic and exotic automobiles, and spending time on the water, both Little Alum in Brimfield, MA and Big Alum in Fiskdale, MA. Above all, he treasured time with his family, taking great pride in his daughter and granddaughters. He will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to "THE" restaurant, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. His family is comforted knowing that the values he lived by and encouraged—hard work, loyalty, conviviality, and love of family—will continue through the generations he leaves behind.
His funeral will be held on Monday, July 27, with calling hours from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, followed by a 12:00pm Mass in St. Anne Church, 16 Church Street, Fiskdale. Burial will be private.
