Worcester
Southbridge: David H. Young, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 4th, in the Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center, Worcester, surrounded by his family after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and Dementia. He never gave up or lost his dry crazy sense of humor. He and his family were just able to celebrate his 80th birthday a week before his passing.
He leaves his daughter, Holly A. Damerjian and her husband Harry of Southbridge; his son, Kurt Young and his wife Barbara; his longtime companion of 26 years, Susan Hughes, of Worcester and her daughters, Shelley Lemieux and Sharyn Hughes who he considered like his own; his sister, Diane Bellerose of Charlton; his three grandchildren, Courtney, Brittany and Stephanie; his great grandchildren, Cameron and Gracelyn; Susan's grandchildren, Ryan, Kayla and Cameron; Susan's great granddaughter, Kinsley; and his former wife, Celeste Rivernider and her husband Bill of Sturbridge. He loved his dogs Zoey and Abbey. He was born in Southbridge the son of the late Harold A. and Delores (Plante) Young and was a graduate of Cole Trade High School in Southbridge.
David owned and operated Young's Express Trucking Co. for many years. First with his father Harold and then on his own. After he worked for Vincent Oil in Southbridge driving Tractor Trailer for many years. Later he worked for other area trucking companies before having to retire after losing his leg in an on the job accident, which never slowed him down. David always enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved going on cruises every year with family and going to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos. He also enjoyed going to the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi, MS and meeting his aunt and cousins there. He enjoyed watching and going to NASCAR races, especially Daytona and Talladega.
He was very special to many people and will be greatly missed. He will forever be in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the Lutheran Rehab and Skilled Care Center and Brookhaven Hospice for all of the care and compassion they gave to David during his illness.
