Brimfield
Brimfield: Dennis F. O'Loughlin, 79, of Brimfield, entered into eternal peace with his Lord, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday February 23, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after an illness.
Dennis leaves the Love of his life, his wife and soulmate Amy (Abusamra) O'Loughlin, his four sisters; Elaine F. Vezina of Northbridge, Deborah Peris of Shrewsbury, Gail Carroll of Asheville, NC and Patrice Hack of North Grafton, along with many adoring nieces and nephews. Dennis was born in Worcester, the son of John F. and Therese (Ledoux) O'Loughlin. Dennis graduated from Saint Stephen's high school in Worcester where he excelled in basketball and was co-captain of the varsity team. He went on to attend Becker Junior college on a basketball scholarship.
Dennis proudly served in the United States Army Reserve from 1955 to 1961. Following college Dennis was employed by General Motors in Framingham for over 20 years until the plant closed. In that time he worked his way up from apprentice to supervisor. He proudly drove only GM cars. After the plant closed, Dennis embarked on another twenty year career as a correctional officer at the Worcester County House of Correction where he spent the majority of career supervising the work-release crews. After a brief try at "snow-birding" in Florida, Dennis returned to the Worcester area, and once again, not ready to retire, took a job driving a wheelchair transportation van, bringing medical patients to and from appointments with care and compassion.
His most recent position was with United Security where he was a valued employee and greatly enjoyed his work. With all of his careers, Dennis made life-long friends. Dennis was an avid lover of nature, enjoying rides in the countryside with his mom and getaways with "his Amy". Mountains, lakes and the ocean were favorite destinations. Dennis was a tremendous fan of the Red Sox and Patriots and thoroughly enjoyed their success over the last twenty years.
