Obituary

Holland: Diane A. Bettilyon, 68, of Marcy Place, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 10, in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield after an illness.

She leaves her longtime companion, Rock Artruc; her two daughters, Heather A. Bouchard and her husband Steve of Wales and Darcy R. Lamont and her husband James of Aliso Viejo, CA; two sisters, Ellen M. Colwell and her husband Alan of Southbridge and Betty Gould of North Brookfield; her beloved four grandchildren, Felicia M. Bouchard, Sabrina A. Bouchard, Andre E. Bouchard, and Emma Jean Buttery.

Diane was born in Southbridge the daughter of the late Walter G. and Alice M. (Raymond) Salva.

She worked for several years alongside her companion and best friend, Rock.  The two traveled the United States working together restoring hotels and using their artisan talent to bring back to life old furniture.  Diane's job title among others was that of a Furniture Medic.  She loved to cook and enjoyed preparing large meals for large family parties and gatherings, especially on the lake. Diane would feed anyone who came walking through the door, hungry or not. Her love language was food. Ambrosia, Gnocchi, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Chicken Marsala, and

Bull's Eye Toast were her grandchildren's favorite. A Tuna Fish sandwich would always hit the spot, anytime of the day. A little lunchbox for plane rides back to LA. Diane also enjoyed a good juicy, greasy cheeseburger.

Diane enjoyed entertaining, fishing, and collecting birds nest and bird knickknack, saving an old movie to watch with her granddaughter, riding her golfcart around the field, and traveling all over the world.

Diane's adventures began in Tijuana, Mexico, when her dad sent her  to visit an Aunt in Arizona, so she wouldn't go camping with a boyfriend. This lead to the love of travel.

After her Southbridge High School graduation Diane went to Newport, Oregon. She immediately fell in love with the people and the coastline. Agate Beach, Yaquina Bay, and the Siletz River hold many memories. The love of the ocean and the Fishing boats were a large part of her life. Newport Beach is also where she started her family.

Diane also traveled to Hawaii, Japan and several times to Germany.  Diane has lived in Newport, Oregon, Southern California, Union, CT., and Holland MA.

Diane was a natural caregiver and took care of many people.  Most of all her greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her four grandchildren.
