Obituary

Southbridge: Evelyn J. (Rossman) Sawicki, 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, at Southbridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center following a long illness.

She was the beloved wife of the late Walter A. Sawicki, who predeceased her in 1996. Evelyn is survived by her nieces, Barbara (Handy) Rivera of Southbridge and Valerie Trenev of California; her nephews, David & Jim Stratta of California, and Donald Rossman of Washington, as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews, and succeeding generations, all of whom she cherished deeply. She was predeceased by her brothers, Alfred and Seigfried Rossman, and her sisters, Mary Stratta and Helen Handy.

Born and raised in Southbridge, Evelyn was the daughter of the late James and Anna (Purlowski) Rossman.

Evelyn dedicated many years of service to Schotts Fiber Optics prior to her retirement and had previously been employed at the Charlton Woolen Mill. Beyond her professional life, she devoted herself faithfully to the care of her parents.

Well known throughout the community, Evelyn was admired for her quick wit and kindness.

Known as "Nina" to many, she shared her love generously and took great pride in the lives of her family. Her presence brought comfort and joy to those around her; she will be remembered with deep love, and missed by many.

Evelyn's funeral services and burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge, will be private. There are no calling hours.

The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
