Southbridge: Florence G. (Mongeon) LaCroix, 89, of Hamilton St., passed away on Sunday, April 5 ^th , in the Southbridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, after a brief illness.

She leaves her longtime companion, Donald R. Pion; her daughter-in-law, Lorraine LaCroix of Plainfield, CT; her two sisters, Carolyn Sells of Florida and Donna LaRoche of E. Douglas; and her granddaughter, Lori-Anne Bernier of Thompson, CT.  Her son, Ernest A. LaCroix, Jr. passed away in 2009.  She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Joseph Mongeon and Robert Mongeon and her three sisters, Doris Piche, Alice Menard, and Janice Bernardone.  She was born in Charlton the daughter of Joseph E. and Grace M. (Clarke) Mongeon.

Florence worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for many years.  She later worked at Schott Fiber Optics for several years before retiring many years ago.  Florence was very fond of animals.  She also enjoyed collecting and loved buying all kinds of items from the Publishers Clearing House.

She was the sweetest lady that anyone could know and she was loved by all who knew her.

Due to the current health restrictions her graveside service in St. Mary's Cemetery Southbridge will be private.  There are no calling hours.

The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
