Sturbridge: Francisco B. Moniz, Jr., 86, passed away on Saturday, July 10 ^th , in his home after a brief illness.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Marjorie K. (Brown) Moniz; his four sons, Francisco B. Moniz, III and his wife Mary of Fultonville, NY; Christopher J. Moniz and his wife Carmen of Fairfax, VA, Michael E. Moniz and his wife Kathleen of Raliegh, NC and James L. Moniz of Peterborough, NH; eight grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his brother, Eric Moniz.  Francisco was born in New Bedford the son of Francisco B. and Palmyra (Borba) Moniz.

Francisco served in the US Army for 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.  He later worked at Spectran Corp. in Sturbridge for 10 years before retiring many years ago.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed riding bicycles.

A calling hour will be held on Thursday, July 22 ^nd , from 2:00 to 3:00pm in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00pm.  Burial in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon, will be held at the convenience of the family.
