Hopedale: Gail L. (Ciprari) Koumanelis, 70, formerly of Charlton and Southbridge passed away peacefully in her home in Hopedale, on Thursday, July 13th, after a long battle with Lewy Body and Vascular Dementia.

She leaves her husband of 50 years, Frank T. Koumanelis; her daughter, Nealy Koumanelis Urquhart and her husband Matthew (who Gail called 'Sonny Boy') of Mendon; her grandson, Jacob "Jakey" Urquhart; her sister, Cheryl Osimo-Cloutier and her husband William of Barnstable; her brother, James Ciprari and his companion Sharon Ciesla of Dudley; her brother-in-law, Arthur Koumanelis and his wife Tula of Dudley; her sister-in-law, Audrey Ciprari of Amesbury; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.  She was predeceased by her brother, Louis John "Jack" Ciprari II.  Gail was born in Worcester the daughter of the late Louis J. Ciprari and Carmen A. (Lippe) Ciprari.  She received her bachelor degree from Lasell University and her master's degree in education from Worcester State University.

Gail was an elementary school teacher for over 25 years, beginning at Great Brook Valley in Worcester and later taught at West Street School in Southbridge, retiring many years ago.

Gail enjoyed the comforts of home and spending quality time with her family, including her dear cats, Buddy and Riece.

Her  funeral will be held on Thursday, July 20th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge.  The burial will follow in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, July 19th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
