Southbridge : George J. Illiparampil, 61, passed away on Friday, May 7th, at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, after a brief illness.

He leaves his beloved wife of 31 years, Teresa "Tess" Sebastian; his mother, Glory Itoop Manjooran of India; a sister, Sally Joseph, his niece, Susan, as well as many other nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was born in Calcutta, India, the son of the late Joseph K. Illiparampil.

George obtained his bachelor's degree in finance and worked as an accountant in India, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, prior to moving to the US with his wife, Tess.  He owned and operated Top Shop for ten years, manufacturing and installing custom granite countertops.

George was known as the "Gentle Giant" and was kind to a fault.  His ability to help others went above and beyond.  George enjoyed music and playing his guitar.  He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.  George was a food enthusiast and enjoyed a good single malt whisky. He enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of dogs, wines, photography and history with his family and friends.  George was an active member of St. Mary's Church of St. John Paul II Parish in Southbridge.

A funeral mass for George will be held on Saturday, May 15 ^th , at 10:00am at Notre Dame Church of St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main Street, Southbridge.

There are no calling hours.
