Charlton: Gloria M. (Gregoire) Chase, 90, of Masonic Home Rd., passed away on Wednesday, June 7th, in Overlook Masonic Health Center, after an illness.

Her husband , Charles F. Chase, Jr. died in 1998. She lost her son, Charles F. Chase III, in 2021. She leaves her three daughters, Marilee Chase of Webster, Darcy Chase of New Haven, CT, and Bette Chase of Westerly, RI; her two grandchildren, Amy Beth Chase and Dylan Chase and a great-grandchild, Dylan Chase Jr..  Gloria was predeceased by two brothers, Donald Gregoire and Gerald Gregoire. She was born in Southbridge the daughter of Joseph F. and Mabel (Lapointe) Gregoire.

Her family owned Gregoire's Shoe Store, a fixture in Southbridge since 1874. She raised her family in Sturbridge, where she was a Girl Scout Leader, and years later returned to Southbridge with her husband Charles and family to live.

She was employed as a Nurse's Aide at Harrington Hospital. She ended her working years as a valued employee of Sturbridge Yankee Workshop, where she enjoyed the Early American furnishings, decorating and assisting customers. She retired after many years of service. Some of her favorite days as a child were spent at the family summer camp on Cedar Lake in Sturbridge, playing bocce, tennis, and Sunday cookouts with family.  In later years, she enjoyed summers oceanside in R.I. or Hampton Beach vacationing with her family and friends.

After the death of her husband Charles Chase in 1998, Gloria settled into a comfortable country life at the Sturbridge Retirement Community where she enjoyed the beauty of nature, birds, her flower garden, and the company of her neighbors and friends, some of which she had known since her early elementary school years at Notre Dame School in Southbridge.

Gloria spent her final days at The Overlook in Charlton, seldom missing a sunset from her window, playing Bingo and reliving stories of her childhood which brought her much joy in sharing with family and friends.

A Graveside Service for Gloria will be held on, Monday, June 19th, at 11:00am in the Old Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge.
