Fiskdale: Herbert J. "Herbie" Vicaire, 86 of Main St., passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, January 4, 2026 after a brief illness.

Herbie is survived by his best friend, loving companion and soul mate of 35 years, Ramona Pollone; his son, Dean Vicaire of Southbridge and a daughter, Claudine Vicaire of Oxford.

He was born on February 12, 1939 in Quebec, Canada. He grew up as a member of the Micmac Native American Tribe in the Gaspi Peninsula.  At the age of 18, Herb migrated to the United States, seeking a better life.  He became a welder and applied his trade for more than 30 plus years at CPC engineering in Sturbridge, MA.  Herb also worked at Fabrico in Oxford until his retirement at age 72.  Sports were a large part of his world. He was a hiker, golfer and a snow skier.  He loved skiing a variety of mountains in New Hampshire, especially Bretton Woods and Attitash.  The most fun, according to Herb, was skiing with his best friends, Bill and Marvin.  Herb enjoyed watching his Patriots and the Montreal Canadians.  He was a kind, loving and generous spirit.  His greatest joy was spending time with friends and his extended family.  Always ready for a celebration! He also was a huge animal lover, especially cats.

A celebration of Herb's life will take place at a later date in the spring.
