Southbridge: James J. Righi, 73, formerly of Southbridge, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14th, in  UMass Memorial-Harrington Hospital at Webster, after a long illness.

He leaves his daughter, Nancy J. Righi of Quincy; his three sisters, Teri Righi Canty and her husband Attorney Ken Canty of Dudley, Diana Righi of Phoenix, AZ and Judy Stepka and her husband Allen of Santa Barbara, CA; and his niece Jessica Francavilla and her husband Bill of Toano, VA.  He was predeceased by his sister, Catherine Righi.  James was born in Tucson, AZ the son of the late Vincenzo "Jim" and Frances A. (Ladyka) Righi.  Jim was a 1968 graduate of Tantasqua Regional High School and went on to receive his degree in Computer Science from Bryant and Stratton School of Business in 1970.

Jim worked as a computer technician for Fidelity Investments in Shrewsbury for several years, retiring many years ago.  He was a member of the Leonide J. Lemire Post 6055 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Southbridge.   Jim was an avid pool player and played in Southbridge pool leagues.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 20th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 11:00am in St. Mary's Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge.  A calling hour in the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 20th, from 10:00 to 10:30am, prior to the Mass.
