Charlton: Janis L. (Stratton) Bunting, 78, of Nichols Lane, passed away on Saturday, June 14th, in the Overlook Masonic Healthcare Center, Charlton, after a long illness.

She leaves her husband of 38 years, Charles H. Bunting and her sister, Susan George and her husband Phil of Upton.  She was born in Hopkinton the daughter of Roy and Mertice Stratton.  Janis was a graduate of Hopkinton High School, and went on to receive her bachelors degree from Framingham State College and her masters degree from Assumption College.

Janis was an advanced and disruptive technology researcher, retiring several years ago.  Janis loved the arts and enjoyed music, literature and paintings and was a voracious reader.  She had an uncanny ability to look at paintings or listen to music and understand, analyze and appreciate what the artist was conveying in their work and was able to apply this ability to the technical side of her career.

Funeral services and burial in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton, will be private.  There are no calling hours.

The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
