Southbridge: John S. Brackett, 60, of Pleasant St., passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday, Sept. 22nd, after an illness.

He leaves his beloved wife of 20 years, Renee (Buchanan) Brackett; his two sons, Joshua Brackett and his wife Sara of Woodstock, CT and Adam Brackett and his wife Leah of Pascoag, RI; his daughter, Arielle Casaletta and her husband Derek of Southbridge; a step-son, Tyler Baker of Pascoag, RI; a step-daughter, Megan Baker of Southbridge; his two brothers, Alan Brackett and his wife Ann of Dudley and Randy C. Brackett and his companion Christine Hanson of Clayville, RI; a sister, Laurie A. Lapierre and her husband Jeff of Southbridge; and his five grandchildren, Elizabeth Brackett, Allaura Brackett, Serenity Brackett, Owen Brackett, Lincoln Casaletta.  He also leaves several beloved nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins, and his fur babies, Boone and Angel.

John was born in Southbridge, the son of the late James W. and G. Elizabeth (Beaudry) Brackett.  He graduated high school and enlisted in the United States Air Force serving honorably as a Fire Protection Specialist.  John dedicated 36 years as a Firefighter serving the Town of Southbridge.  He most recently worked for 13 years at Dexter Russell in Southbridge retiring this past June.

John enjoyed shooting, motorcycle rides and bird watching, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and hanging out with his friends at Dunkin' Donuts.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 11:00 am in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge.  Burial will follow in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Monday, Sept. 25th, from 4:00 to 7:00pm.
