Sturbridge: John B. Voyles, 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 24th, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a brief illness.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Myra A. (Augusto) Voyles; and his son, Jason Voyles and his longtime companion Lorraine of Victoria, VA.  He also leaves his dog, Whitie.  He was predeceased by his two brothers, Bobby Voyles and Scotty Voyles and his sister Peggy Ann Wilbanks.  He was born Corinth, MS the son of the late G.B. and Shirley (Rast) Voyles.  He was a graduate of Corinth High School and a graduate of Worcester Junior College.

John was the owner and operator of JBV Optical.  He previously worked for New York Life Insurance Co.  John enjoyed his optical work and enjoyed investing.  He loved animals, especially his dogs.  He enjoyed football and played in football in his younger years.  He loved fishing and was a fan of Red Sox and Patriots.

A celebration of life for John will be held at a later date.  There are no calling hours.

The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
