Southbridge: Jon I. Barrus, 75, passed away on Friday, Feb. 14th, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Candace J. (Chor) Barrus; his son John P. Barrus and his longtime companion, Diane LeBrun of Deerfield; his daughter, Patricia L. MacNeil and her longtime companion, Bernard Guasp of Southbridge; 11 grandchildren, Joseph A. MacNeil, Joseph C. Barrus, Katelyn T. MacNeil, Joshua P. MacNeil, Danielle J. Croteau, Ashlee R. Barrus, Brittany L. Murphy, Marcus A. Guasp, Nicholas Guasp, Letrice Ford and Amy Beauchamp; and 13 great grandchildren.  He was born in Weymouth the son of the late Ira and Marjorie Theresa (Devaney) Barrus.

Jon was a longtime auto mechanic.  He worked for Sullivan Tire and also had his own auto cleaning business.  In his later years he worked for Pembroke Radiator delivering parts.

Jon loved cars and was an avid NASCAR fan.  He enjoyed playing disk golf and was a New England Patriots fan.  He enjoyed going camping and kayaking with his family.  He loved dancing with his wife (as he would call her – 'My Lady').  He loved his cats and had a sweet tooth for Devil Dogs.  Above all Jon loved spending time with his family.

Jon's funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours.

The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
