Southbridge: Jose A. Pena, 84, of Cross St., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23 ^th, in the Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after a brief illness.

He leaves his longtime companion, Maria Molina; his son, Jose Pena and his wife Kathy of Southbridge; his sister, Zaida Pena of Southbridge; his two grandchildren, Jose C. Pena and his wife Stephanie and Sheena Burgess and her husband Erik of Auburn; his step children, Denise Molina, Luis Molina and Betsy Molina; his step grandchildren, Adam Supka, Ryan Supka and Tyler Supka; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his wife, Carmen (Escobar) Pena in 2005; his son, Henry Pena in 1998; his grandson, Shaun Pena in 2011 and his granddaughter, Phylicia Pena in 2005.  Jose was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico the son of Andres and Monserrate (Andujar) Pena.

Jose worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for many years, retiring in 1982.  Jose was an avid softball player and for years was a constant figure at the Henry Street Softball Field in Southbridge.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27 ^th , from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26 ^th , from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
