Brimfield
Brimfield: Katherine V. Zollo, passed away on Friday, Jan. 8 th . I have earned my wings. I will be flying high with my grandmother Delia, my mom Viola, my brothers Ken and John and will be reunited with the the rest of my family and friends who have flown before me.
I leave behind my son Bob and daughter-in-law Laura, who I loved as if she were my own daughter. Bob, no matter how old you get, you will always be my baby. It seems like just the other day I remember taking you home from the hospital. Contrary to popular belief, I raised you and not my brothers and sisters. I will miss rubbing your back and humming to you in order to calm you down. I realized when you were 15 years old, that maybe you were too old for this. I will rest at ease knowing that I leave you in good hands. I could not have picked a better person for you then Laura myself.
I am also leaving behind my daughter Missy and son-in-law Steve, who I loved as if he was my own son. Missy, although Bobby insists I pushed you on the ice, It really wasn't me who caused you to break your leg. Thank you for being so patient with me and for being my best friend.
To my grandchildren, all of you are very special to me in a different way but I loved, adored and cherished you all the same.
My #1 Michael, "My Miguel", Thank you for giving me my #6 Alex and #7 Sebastian, my only great-grandchild. Those summer nights, when you slept over, you didn't have to fink on me to your parents about locking all the doors and windows to make sure no one would steal you. Also, it was my right as a grandmother to see if you were breathing every 15 minutes to make sure you were safe.
My #2, Trevor, " My T-Bird ", I couldn't wait to go watch your baseball games. I would always yell, "Come on "T" when everyone was quiet. I wanted to make sure you knew I was there cheering you on, and I didn't care if everyone else heard me.
My #3 Kaylyn," My Sweetie", I will always cherish the times we would have lunch and go to the scary movies together. I would always cover my eyes with my hands not because I was scared but because I would get a chuckle out of seeing you laugh at me.
My #4 Emily, "My Emy", I always knew it wasn't only you who rearranged the magnetic letter names on my refrigerator. I will still always love you even though you were the one who laughed the loudest when my teeth fell out while I was blowing out the candles on my birthday cake.
My #5 Dominic, My faithful roommate on the Vegas trip and the only one I ever witnessed coming into this world. I didn't even get to see my own kids being born. I will cherish all the times you tried to scare me by touching my head or jumping out at me. I only appeared to be scared to make you feel good, I knew you were there all the time.
To my sisters Judy, Jane and Joanne, I will always fondly remember the great times we had on our trips to the Cape, even though we had to cross that terrifying bridge, you know how much I hated driving on bridges. I really appreciated getting the best bed. I never really did get a wink of sleep. And those card games, we all knew who was cheating, it wasn't me! To my sisters-in-law Judie, Wendy and Carol, I was truly blessed to have you. I thought of you as sisters
To my brothers Mike, Spike and brothers-in-law Paul, Ed and Peter, I will miss all the fun times we had together especially at our family Christmas parties.
To the rest of my family, including my Godchildren; Debbie, Sheri, Lindsay and Jay and my many nieces and nephews, I am glad I amused you. To all my friends and especially Gerry, I hope you enjoyed my friendship as much as I enjoyed yours.
I kept myself busy by sewing and crocheting things. I love to make matching outfits for my grandkids, clothes, blankets, and christening outfits from wedding gowns. I loved making gravy on Wednesdays and Sundays and decorative cakes, especially wedding cakes. I was a switchboard operator and a bus driver. One of the highlights in my life is when I met and had my picture taken with John Travolta. I asked him over for supper but he politely refused. Can't blame a girl for trying. By the way, don't bother looking for the picture of me on the waterslide in Florida, I took it with me.
I will miss not being able to sing Happy Birthday to all you because I lost my darn phone, but when we meet again, you will hear my beautiful voice once more.
How much do I love you? I love you this much! This is not goodbye, this is until we meet again.
Katherine's services and burial will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours.
The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
