Southbridge

Obituary

Southbridge: Lauretta M. (Courchesne) DiFederico, 92, of Benefit St., passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23 rd , in the Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, after an illness.

Her husband, Armand P. DiFederico, passed away in 1990 and her son, Paul A. DiFederico, passed away in 2017.  She leaves her son, Gary A. DiFederico and his wife Kathleen of Enfield, CT; and her two grandchildren, Leanne DiFederico and her companion Jacob Gottier and Carl DiFederico and his companion Hady Rasid.  She was also predeceased by her sister Doris Crane.  Lauretta was born in Southbridge, the daughter of Homer J. and Rosa Alma (Lavallee) Courchesne.

Lauretta worked as a bookkeeper/accountant for Westwood Inc. in Southbridge for many years, retiring when she was 74 after the company finally closed the office.  Lauretta's faith was important to her and she was a devoted supporter of her parish, St. Mary's Parish and later St. John Paul II, in Southbridge.  She faithfully attended Mass and also enjoyed attending the outdoor Mass at St. Anne's in Sturbridge.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting and needlework and she made many beautiful items that she gave to her family and friends.  She also loved to bake and the desserts she made were always special.  Her Italian Pizzelles were amazing and she was still making them for her family this past Christmas with her 50 year old Pizzelle iron!  Above all, Lauretta adored her grandchildren as she watched them grow into wonderful, compassionate adults.  She enjoyed attending Carl's soccer matches and Leanne's many dance recitals. She was especially proud of their achievements in education with Carl becoming an Engineer and Leanne a teacher.  Lauretta loved every moment she spent with them and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Due to the current health restrictions Lauretta's funeral Mass and Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge, will be private.

The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
