North Adams: Lester A. Beatty, Jr., 90, of Main St., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, Sept 5th, in the North Adams Commons, North Adams, after an illness.

His wife, Diana A. (Cloutier) Beatty, died September 7, 1996.  He leaves his two sons, Clayton A. Beatty and his partner, Paula Kiley of Franklin, MA and James A. Beatty of TN; his two daughters, Susan E. Barber of Palmer and Debra C. Bond of Jacksonville, Fl; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Lester was born in Worcester the son of Lester A. and Ellen H. (Anderson) Beatty, Sr.  Upon leaving high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving honorably during the Korean War.   Lester enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow, occasional trips to the casinos, and back in the day he enjoyed spending evenings playing cards, or going on hunting trips with his brothers.

A funeral service for Lester will be held on Friday, Sept. 12th at 11:00 AM in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge.

A calling hour in the funeral home will be held on Friday, Sept. 12th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service.  Burial with military honors will follow in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton.
