Webster/Southbridge : Louis J. Malley, 78, of Christopher Heights, formerly of Southbridge,  passed away on Thursday, June 30 ^th , in the UMass Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his sister, Marie Kantorski and her husband Joseph of Southbridge; his brother, George Malley of Terryville, CT; and his eight nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Kantorski, Gregory Kantorski, Mona Flynn, David Kantorski, Linda Grimshaw, Erica Bestermann, George Malley and Susan Palombo.  He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Ann Malley.  Louie was born in Bristol, CT the son of the late Louis M. and Helen B. (Tomalski) Malley.
Before retiring several years ago, Louie worked in Southbridge at both American Optical, and Schott Fiber Optics, and later at Gentex in Dudley.
He enjoyed his summer camping vacations at Rocky Neck State Park in Connecticut where he would spend quality time with his siblings and their families.  He would often be seen riding his bicycle to the beach, playing lawn games, and attempting to beat his brother George at cribbage.

'Uncle Jimmy', as he was known by his nieces and nephews, was a kind soul who never wished ill will upon anyone. His family loved him dearly. He was often referred to as 'the gentle giant' who was always quick to smile when they were around. His great faith in God was infectious and not only spurred his interest in history and Catholicism, but guided him throughout his life. Indeed, Uncle Jimmy was the family expert during family gatherings.
Louie's funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 21 ^st , at 11:00 am in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge.  There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
