Sturbridge: Lucille D. Martel, 90, of Park Circle, passed away on September 13th at UMass Memorial, after a brief illness.

Lucille was predeceased by her husband Raymond A. Martel in 2006. She leaves her loving daughters, Linda L. Bellows and her husband Robert of Charlton and Lisa L. Morrison and her husband Michael of Southbridge; grandchildren, Craig R. Bellows, Ryan J. Bellows, Alex R. Bellows and his wife Julie, and Amy M. Morrison; great grandchildren, Devon Morrison and Ryan Chisholm.

Lucille was predeceased by her granddaughter, Katie Bellows in 1991. As well as her brothers Ernest Rochon and Adelard Rochon, and her sisters, Alice Brousseau, Florence Boucher, Lillian Rodio, and her twin, Louise Durand.

Lucille was born in Southbridge, MA, the daughter of Joseph C. and Eva M. (Paul) Rochon.

Lucille was born in Southbridge and moved to Sturbridge in 1988.  She spent many years working at Southbridge Evening News, making some lifelong friends.  Living in the Retirement Park in Sturbridge, our mother and father enjoyed playing shuffleboard, different card games and the group get togethers.  After Ray died, Lucille enjoyed the Thursday night pitch games and the monthly "Foxy Ladies" luncheons.  Lucille and Ray took many wonderful trips; Lucille worried about so many things in her life – what she didn't think twice about was getting in a helicopter to fly over the Grand Canyon, they both loved it!  Lucille loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.  We ask everyone to wear blue to her funeral; it was her favorite color.  Her family would like to thank South 3 at Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care while she was there.  All the nurses and PCA's went above and beyond to take care of her, it is greatly appreciated.

A Funeral Service for Lucille will be held on Wednesday, September 24th, at 11:00am in The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge. A calling hour will take place Wednesday, September 24th from 10:00am to 11:00am in The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, prior to the service. Burial will be held in New Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
