Southbridge: Luis A. Perez, 59, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 15 ^th , in the Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after an illness.

He leaves his three children, Jessica O'Keefe and her husband Dan of Marlboro, Nicole Perez and her husband Christian Urraca of Worcester and Luis O. Perez of Auburn; his mother, Juana (Zayas) Perez of Southbridge; his brother, Jose Perez and his wife Lizette of Worcester; his two sisters, Alba Rodriguez and her husband Alexander of Southbridge and Maria Fontaine and her husband Gary of Southbridge; his four grandchildren, Anthony Urraca, Adrian Urraca, Evan O'Keefe and Ayla O'Keefe; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother, Calazan D. Perez.  Luis was born in Cambridge, MA the son of the late Calazan Perez.

Luis was a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps for 13 years and served during the Desert Storm War era.  He was the recipient of several letters of commendation during his service in the Marines.

After serving his country Luis went on to serve as a Court Officer at the Worcester County District Court, Worcester Courthouse for 25 years and the last 10 years of those years as Chief Court Officer.  Luis was devoted to his job at the courthouse and in 2007 he received the Employee Excellence Award.

Luis was always the life of the party with his family and friends.  Above all he was a devoted son, brother, father and grandfather, his family was the most important part of his life.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 22 ^nd , from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 247 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 21 ^st , from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
