Southbridge: Maurice J. Capistrand, 90, of Therese Ave, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on Saturday, Jan. 18 ^th .
He leaves his beloved wife of 66 years, Nancy M. (Czyzewski) Capistrand; his daughter, Marcy A. Scheffler and her husband Ken of Dudley; a granddaughter, Kiley Scheffler and her fiancé Joshua Lima; a great granddaughter, Maddison Lima; his sister in law, Theresa Capistrand; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and godchildren.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Kenneth Scheffler, Jr.; his brother, Normand J. Capistrand; and two sisters, Doris Livernois and Vivian Chapdelaine.

He was born in Southbridge the son of Nazaire and Imelda (Paulhus) Capistrand.

Maurice attended Cole Trade in Southbridge and went onto serve honorably in the US Army during the Korean War.  He worked for 30 years for the Town of Southbridge as the DPW Supervisor.  Maurice was a lifetime member of the Leonide J. Lemire VFW Post 6055 in Southbridge.  He was an active member of Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish.  He was an umpire and played in a Men's softball league in Southbridge. In his younger years he played semi-pro baseball for the Polish Tigers. Maurice enjoyed dancing, bowling, and caring for his cars.  His true love was his family.  Maurice adored his girls and cherished all his time spent with his family especially his granddaughter and great granddaughter.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23rd, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22nd, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
