Southbridge : Melissa A. Carmel, 50, of Marcy St., passed away on Saturday, August 6th after an illness.

She leaves her beloved husband Raymond P. Carmel of 7 years; her son, Luke Wandelear of Southbridge; her two daughters, Olivia Wandelear and her fiancé Joshua White of Southbridge and Eliza-Jayne Wandelear of Southbridge; her father, Dennis Barry and his wife Sonia; her two sisters, Meagan Billings and her husband Michael and Sarah Barry; her two step-daughters, Kim Kingman and her husband Brian of Chepachet, RI and Tracie L. Carmel and her husband Wayne Beckwith of Sturbridge; her nephews, Zachary and Nicholas Billings; her niece, Sage Barry. She was predeceased by her mother, Susan (Paulauskas Barry) Zappone.

Melissa was an enviable baker, an avid beach-goer, and a dedicated country music fan. Never one to miss an opportunity to exercise, Melissa could always be seen jogging fiercely through town. Melissa was a couch Jeopardy champion, kitchen karaoke star, and Food Network enthusiast. For more than 20 years, Melissa worked for the Yankee Candle Company in Sturbridge, MA. She was in love with her job and always knew how to match the perfect scent to any occasion. She loved hosting parties and holidays at her home for family and friends and taking care of her garden. Melissa will be remembered as a beautiful, vibrant, and passionate mother, wife, and friend.

Funeral services and burial for Melissa will be private. There are no calling hours.

Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge is directing the arrangements.
