New York, NY / Southbridge: Miguelina Acevedo, resident of New York City, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on July 7, 2020. Miguelina was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico on May 8, 1935, to Florencio (Flor) Cruz and Florencia (Flora) Alvarado.

Her husband of 55 years, Eugenio Acevedo, passed away in 2007.  Miguelina is survived by her four children, Cruz Acevedo and his wife Suk Hui, of Las Vegas, NV. Rosita Bodnar and her husband Nicholas, of Queens, NY, Elsie Alicea and her husband Catalino of Southbridge, MA and Ricardo Acevedo and his wife Pamela of Brooklyn, NY; her son-in-law, Roger Dostall of Fayetteville, NC.  Also, survived by 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.  In 2017 she was predeceased by her daughter Margarita Dostall, Fayetteville, NC.

Miguelina lived in the same apartment and had the same telephone number for over 67 years!  She served as a Eucharistic Minister for over 40 years during the 10:00 am Sunday Spanish mass at Nativity (RC) Church, New York City.  She also recently became a member of The John Paul II (RC) Friendship Senior Center, New York City.

The family wishes to thank all of Miguelina's family and friends for their support, prayers and thoughts during her illness and hospitalization, including Overlook Hospice assisting in her most recent home hospice care in Southbridge.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, July 11 ^th , from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Saturday, July 11 ^th , from 10:30 to 12:00pm, prior to the Mass.
