Auburn
Auburn/Sturbridge: Patricia C. (Jowett) Wondolowski, 76, of Thayer Ave., Auburn and of Cedar Lake, Sturbridge, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3rd, in her home surrounded by her loving family after a battle with Brain Cancer.
She leaves her husband of 51 years, Joseph P. Wondolowski; her two children, Timothy Wondolowski and his wife Sara of Lexington and Amy M. Vallee and her husband Craig of Brimfield; her two sister-in-laws, Linda Zonia and her husband David of Sturbridge and Carol Parker and her husband Richard of Auburn; her five grandchildren, Tristen Vallee, Talyn Vallee, Emily Wondolowski, Benjamin Wondolowski and Jacob Wondolowski; and her two nephews, Christopher Parker and Scott Jowett.
She was born in Southbridge the daughter of Carl W. and Ruth I. (Brousseau) Jowett. Pat was a graduate of Southbridge High School and Becker Junior College in Worcester. She finished her working career as the secretary for the Mary D. Stone Elementary School in Auburn, working there for over 20 years. During her life she was very active in the community and volunteering countless hours of her time for causes she was passionate about. She was an Auburn Town Meeting Member and served on the Auburn Land Bank Committee. She was a very active member of the Cedar Lake Association for 48 years, holding various officer positions while helping to improve the water quality and enjoyment of the lake for all residents. She was also instrumental in helping to get lake residents access to public sewer with the Town of Sturbridge. She sponsored numerous Kayaks for a Cause events on Cedar Lake, which benefited both local and national charities. Pat was also a founding member of the Cedar Lake Water Ski Club, the 'Aqua Nuts'. After retiring she volunteered regularly in the Brimfield and Auburn school systems offering support wherever there was an unmet need.
Pat loved her 'happy place', her home on Cedar Lake in Sturbridge; where she enjoyed her lounge chair with a book, being on a boat, talking on the dock with friends and family or just floating in the water on sunny days. She enjoyed traveling to tropical destinations in the winter and to Misquamicut Beach, RI and Wells Beach, ME in the Summer. She and her daughter's family were regular attendees at the Brimfield Flea Market. Pat was also an avid reader and enjoyed playing Words With Friends. She was a deep conversationalist and very social person, she knew people wherever she went. She also enjoyed staying active and going to the gym or walking in her community.
Above all her greatest joy were her grandchildren. She went to all of their events and supported them with all her heart. Always wearing the team colors and cheering passionately for them. She enjoyed cooking for them and with them, taking them out for shopping trips and lunches. Her fondest memories were spending days on Cedar Lake with her grandchildren and her family while capturing all of those special moments through photography.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 11th, at 11:00am in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery, Sturbridge. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Monday, July 10th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
