Obituary

Mechanicsburg, PA/Southbridge: Richard Domijan, 83, of Mechanicsburg, PA, formerly of Southbridge, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA.

Richard leaves his companion and friend, Barbara Sowers, of Camp Hill, PA; his daughter, Francie Rosato of Malvern, PA; his three grandchildren, Spencer Rosato, Sarah Paige Rosato and Eden Rosato; his nephew, Kenneth Lapierre and his wife, Deborah, of Phoenix, AZ, and many close family members and friends. Richard was predeceased by his sister, Stephanie (Domijan) Lapierre, on October 11, 2025.

Richard was born in Southbridge, the son of Stephen S. and Catherine M. (Liro) Domijan.  He was a graduate of Mary E. Wells High School, Class of 1960. During his younger years, he worked at the Southbridge Newspaper as a Circulation Manager (having been a newspaper carrier when he was a teenager). After high school, he studied electronics at DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. He had a long career as a Field Service Engineer and worked for several companies such as Honeywell in New Hampshire, Burroughs Corporation in Georgia, and Digital Equipment Corporation in Pennsylvania.

Richard was proud of his Polish heritage and particularly enjoyed traditional Polish food. Pierogies were amongst his favorites, especially the cheese, cabbage and blueberry varieties. He often made homemade pierogies from scratch to give to friends and family and lovingly prepared them for the annual family reunions. Richard was also a talented and enthusiastic Polka dancer who traveled to numerous states to listen to his favorite Polka bands and attend Polka dances, all of which were highly anticipated social events.  He loved Polka music so much that his playlist in his car consisted entirely of Polka music. He also enjoyed 10-pin bowling, was an avid stamp collector, and loved playing cards. Amongst the card games he played, Cribbage was his favorite, so much so that he was known to play 50 games over the course of a weekend. He even played Cribbage online every Sunday via Zoom with his sister and cousin in Massachusetts and his nephew and niece in Arizona. Richard was also an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill, PA where he attended weekly Masses.  He will be missed by so many friends and family who will remember him for his sense of humor, his thoughtfulness and kindness.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, July 11th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 12:00pm in St. Mary's Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Burial will follow in St. Hedwig's Cemetery, Southbridge.  A calling hour in the funeral home will be held on Saturday, July 11th, from 10:30 to 11:30am.
