Obituary

Fiskdale : Robert Alan "Bob" Levite, 76, formerly of Fiskdale, passed away on June 1, 2026, while residing at Cedarbrook Village in Ware, Massachusetts, following a long battle with dementia.

Born on June 3, 1949, in Steubenville, Ohio, Bob was the son of the late Miriam Jeanne and David Morris Levite. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University in 1972, a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in 1976, and later attended Vermont Law School.

An environmental attorney dedicated to public service, Bob devoted his career to water resources, land protection, and environmental law throughout New England. He served in legal roles for the Vermont Water Resources Board, the Massachusetts Division of Energy Resources, and the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. He also taught at Harvard Law School and supported the work of Mass Audubon, Opacum Land Trust, the Nashua River Watershed Association, the Littleton Conservation Trust, and served on the Board of Directors for the Kestral Land Trust. His work reflected a lifelong commitment to protecting the natural world he loved so deeply.

Bob will be remembered for his intelligence, quick wit, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He had a curious mind, a sharp sense of humor, and an appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He found joy in hiking, camping, traveling, gardening, birdwatching, music, chocolate, and spending time with the people and animals he loved. Some of his happiest adventures were motorcycle rides and RV trips shared with the love of his life, Deb.

An animal lover throughout his life, he adored his Australian Shepherd, Tula, who predeceased him, and shared a special bond with Tika, who remained a treasured companion in his later years.

Bob is survived by his beloved partner of 12 years, Deb Ciprari of Fiskdale; his sister-in-law, Kimberly Levite of Ohio; nieces Jay Levite and Denise Yocum; and nephews Dan Levite and Larry Yocum. He was predeceased by his brother, Bernie Levite, and his sister, Michele Yocum.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and staff of Cedarbrook Village for the kindness, dignity, and support they provided to Bob throughout his residency.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Opacum Land Trust, P.O. Box 233, Sturbridge, MA 01566.
