Southbridge: Romeo G. "Buddy" Mageau, 82, of Alpine Dr., passed away on Wednesday, April 5 ^th , in his home after a long illness.

He leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol E. (Wood) Mageau; his two daughters, Tina Johnson and her husband David of Sturbridge and Wendy Aquino of Sturbridge; his five grandchildren, Heather Cournoyer and her wife Rachel, Westley Cournoyer and his wife Marissa, Chyna Aquino, Dylan Johnson and Chase Clark; his three great grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Lexyn and Felix; his two former sons-in-law, Jose Aquino and Robert Cournoyer; his lifelong friend, Alfred Dobson; his cousin, James McLean; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his three brothers, Wilbert Sheran, Brian Mageau and Matthew Mageau.  Buddy was born in Southbridge the son of Romeo V. and Alice (McLean) Mageau.

Buddy was a sheet metal mechanic and worked at Southbridge Sheet Metal for 23 years before retiring many years ago.  He previously worked for A & W Sheet Metal in Southbridge for 9 years.  Buddy was a member of St. Mary's Parish (now St. John Paul II Parish) and was a member of the National Rifle Association.  He was an avid beekeeper and was a member of the National Beekeepers Association.  Buddy was also an avid gardener.

The family would liked to thank the nurses from Central Care VNA and Hospice for all of the care and compassion they gave to Buddy for the past year.

Buddy's funeral service will be held on Monday, April 10 ^th , at 11:00am in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge. A calling hour in the funeral home will be held on Monday, April 10 ^th , from 10:00 to 11:00am, prior to the service.
