Southbridge: Ronald E. Parent, 72, of Main St., passed away on Friday, May 29 ^th , in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Ron was born in Southbridge the son of the late Albert E. and Gertrude M. (Langevin) Parent.  He received his bachelor's degree in computer sciences from Jones College, Jacksonville, FL.

Ron worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for many years and later worked for Home Depot before retiring many years ago.  Ron was also an auxiliary police officer for the Town of Southbridge.  He enjoyed going to the shooting range and was a member of the National Rifle Association.  In recent years Ron enjoying passing the time with friends at Dunkin Donuts in Southbridge.

A private graveside service for Ron will be held in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge.  There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. John Paul II Parish, 279 Hamilton St., Southbridge, MA 01550.

The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
