Ronald F. Wayne, 73, of Glover St., passed away on Monday, Feb. 14th at UMass Harrington, Southbridge, after a tireless life long battle with illness.
He leaves his beloved wife of 49 years, Ruth P. (Krasnov) Wayne; his two sons, Jacob H. Wayne and his wife Kristina M. Wayne of Newington, Conn. and Timothy N. Wayne of Southbridge; two grandchildren, Mia S. Wayne and Jude R. Wayne; and his two brothers-in-law, David Krasnov of Southbridge and Paul Krasnov and his wife Heather of South Kingstown, R.I. He was born in Southbridge the son of Francis H. and Gertrude M. (Champagne) Wayne. Ron attended Worcester Junior College, where he obtained an Associate's degree in Engineering Welding Technology. He later attended Fitchburg State University, obtaining his Bachelor's Degree in Education.
Ron worked as a Metal Fabrication instructor at Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton for 33 years.
He was a teacher by profession, but also by his actions in life. Driven by the love for his family, Ron never gave up the fight against his illness. Providing for his family was his priority, and he worked hard every day even though his health made it challenging for him. Ron always found humor in every situation. His infectious laugh could often be heard from anywhere in the house and always brought a smile to everyone's face.
He enjoyed exercising throughout his life and always tried to be as healthy as possible. He would always say, "If you have your health, you have everything."
Along with spending time with his family, sports also brought Ronnie great joy. He especially loved basketball and the Boston Celtics. Those closest to him learned the importance of good health and laughter, and were continuously inspired by his unbreakable spirit and eternal optimism. He taught us all that hard work and a strong will can overcome great obstacles with the love of your family.
