Southbridge: Shirley A. (Collette) Uwazany, 84, passed away on, Wednesday, July 19th, in UMass Memorial Health, Harrington, Southbridge, after a brief illness.

Her husband of 59 years, Krystian B. Uwazany, passed away in 2015. She leaves her two sons, Christopher Uwazany and his wife Tricia of Brimfield and John Uwazany and his wife Angelic of Rutland; her brother Donald Collette of Florida; and her four grandchildren, Sarah Uwazany, Giana Uwazany, Kyle Enberg and Connor Enberg. Her daughter, Judith Windham, died in 2004.  She was also predeceased by her sister, Patricia Collette.  She was born in Southbridge the daughter of Romeo and Florence (Asselin) Collette.  She was a graduate of the former Notre Dame High School in Southbridge.

Shirley worked at the Five and Ten in Southbridge and later worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge, retiring many years ago.  She was a longtime member of the former St. Hedwig's Parish (now St. John Paul II Parish) in Southbridge.  A lifelong resident of Southbridge, Shirley enjoyed spending her summers with her family on Lake Bungee in Woodstock, CT.  She also enjoyed walking, going to the beach, knitting and cooking.

Shirley's family would like to thank her longtime caregiver, Kristina Nichols, RN Jen Eldridge, Christine Van Woerkton from Visiting Angels and all of her neighbors for looking out for her.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 25th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 11:00am in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge.  Burial will follow in St. Hedwig's Cemetery, Southbridge.  A calling hour in the funeral home will be held on Tuesday, July 25th, from 9:30 to 10:30am, prior to the Mass.
