Southbridge: Steven M. Desmarais, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 17th.

He leaves his wife of 39 years, Michele A. "Shelley" (Latour) Desmarais; his son, Josh C. Desmarais and his wife Nicole of Brookfield; his daughter, Judith R. Desmarais of Southbridge; his grandson, Henry Desmarais; his mother, Yvette (Blanchette) Desmarais of Southbridge; his three brother-in-laws, Louis Latour and his wife Marcia of Southbridge, James Latour and his wife Sue of Ocean City, MD and John Latour and his wife Christine of Woodstock; his two sister-in-laws, Marilyn Pollone and her companion Joe Dean of Southbridge and Emily Cournoyer and her husband Paul of Dudley; and many nieces and nephews.  He was born in Southbridge the son of the late Armand J. Desmarais.

Steven worked for Polar Beverages in Worcester for 43 years.  He started as a truck driver and eventually becoming the VP of Transportation, retiring this past April.  Steven served on the Board of Directors of the Worcester Community Action Council.  He was the former Commissioner of the Southbridge Airport.  Steven loved most things with motors; trucks, motorcycles and planes.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 24th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 446 Main St., Southbridge.  Burial will follow in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 23rd, from 4:00 to 6:00pm.
