Obituary

Southbridge: Teresa L. Pruitt, 57, of Marcy St, passed away peacefully at home, enveloped in love, on October 19th after a long battle with cancer. She leaves behind her four daughters, Crystal Mailloux and Stephanie Dobson of Tulsa, OK, Alyssa Fleury of Bellingham and Autumn Mailloux of Hartford, CT; her two brothers Tommy R Pruitt, Jr, of Southbridge and Mark Lindsay of Charlton; her four sisters Tommie Mills of CA, Arlene Algieri of ME, Cheryl Lareau of Millbury and Sharyn Rennie of Worcester; her two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her stepfather Walter "Butch" Lindsay, stepmother Carol McAtee, father Tommy R Pruitt, Sr and her mother Elizabeth "Betty" Lindsay (nee Driscol).

Teresa was born in Enid, OK and the family moved to MA shortly thereafter. She grew up in MA and attended both Grafton and Shepard Hill Regional high schools. She relocated back to OK for a period then returned to MA where she resided until her passing. Teresa was a trained phlebotomist and a certified nursing assistant. She worked for many years for local home care agencies prior to her illness.

Teresa was happiest spending summer days at her mother's house on the reservoir in Charlton, enjoying a good cup of coffee with a cigarette, reading, listening to Fleetwood Mac and talking about her grandchildren. Teresa loved socializing and had many friends who knew her to be fiercely loyal, supportive and someone who would "give you the shirt off her back" if you were in need. She will be missed greatly by all.

Those who knew Teresa well knew of her incredible stubborn streak. It was that trait that allowed her to fight her cancer for so long and her resistance to "go quietly into the long, good night" until there was no other course left to her. She was truly a fighter until it was no longer helpful.

Her family would like to thank her close friends, Jody L Tetreault and Valentin "Pete" Sanchez, for their years of friendship and dedication to her care during her battle with cancer. The family would also like to thank her home health care nurse Tarah Traina from Care Central VNA & Hospice for her compassionate care of Teresa and her empathy displayed toward her family members.

Calling hours for Teresa will be held on Tuesday, Oct 25th from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St, Southbridge. A graveside service in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton, will be held at the convenience of the family.

For those wishing to send flowers, please note that Teresa's wish was to be surrounded by roses and lots of colors. Thank You.
