Obituary

Southbridge: Theresa L. Joy, 93, passed away after living a full enjoyable life on Sept. 27, 2026 at Christopher Heights in Webster, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Southbridge, the daughter of Rodolph Tremblay and Beatrice (LeClair) Tremblay, along with her brother William 'Billy' and her sister Pauline Paquin. She grew up in Southbridge graduating from Mary E. Wells High School where she was a majorette leading parades down Main Street in Southbridge.  She met her husband at a dance at the Quinebaug Dance Hall and subsequently married and formed a 64-year marriage to Walter "Skippy" Joy.  Terry and Skip had 4 children: Allen, Kenny and his wife Kathy, Bruce and his wife Judy, and Gail.

Terry was a proud homemaker and as the children grew, she worked many years as a home cake decorator, a Park and Shop cashier and a bank clerk at Savers Bank. She also volunteered at the voting station at Charlton Street School. She is a devout Catholic and a true believer in God and Jesus Christ. She enjoyed making many quilts and with Skip made numerous beautiful stained-glass items for her family as well as trips to the golf course! Music was always in the air with her and she enjoyed many camping trips with her family and that was where she brought memories and lifelong friends into her life. She was always a cheerful and friendly person to all she came across and as a result bonded with many people from all walks of life. She loved games of all sorts; Bingo, cards with friends, the occasional casino trip, and lately "KLUPPA" defined as Keno between LUnch and suPPA'. She had many winning streaks in KLUPPA, resulting in her being named "Keno Boss."

Theresa was predeceased by her husband Walter in 2015, her son Allen in 1971, her siblings William and Pauline and a host of other relatives and friends. She has had the benefit of enjoying life with 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and lots of loving nieces, nephews and in laws.

Theresa's parting wishes were that everyone should find a way to love each other deeply and appreciate that we're all in this together and find ways to love each other. The family wishes to express the greatest of thanks, love and respect to Christopher Heights family and staff, Summit Eldercare, and Price Chopper Pharmacy staff, all of whom cared for her wellbeing and comfort.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1st, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 11:00am in St. Mary's Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge.  Burial in Old Notre Dame Cemetery will be private.  Calling hours in the funeral Home will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 30th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
