Southbridge: Wanda V. (Liro) Beaupre, 84, of Lebanon St., passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 22nd.
She leaves her beloved husband of 63 years, George A. Beaupre; two sons, George A. Beaupre Jr. and his partner, Maura Oldenburg of Hampden, MA and John M. A. Beaupre and his wife Jean of Thompson, CT; a daughter, Monique A. McCoy and her husband Brian of Dudley; two sisters, Dolores Takala of Fairfax, VA and Mary Ann Troy of Nashua, NH; a brother, Mitchell Liro, Jr. of Holliston, MA; five grandchildren, Andrew McCoy, Benjamin McCoy, Joseph Beaupre, Daniel Beaupre and his fiancée Sarah Norton, Grace Beaupre, and their mother Tami Beaupre; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wanda was born in Southbridge, the daughter of Mitchell J. and Antoinette M. (Grzeszczak) Liro. She graduated from Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge and went on to work at American Optical for many years before retiring from Monoplex Eye. Wanda was an active member of Sacred Heart Church and St. Hedwig's Church in Southbridge prior to their closing and merger with St. John Paul II Parish in Southbridge. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed cooking, reading, and gardening.
Wanda's greatest joy was the time spent with her husband George and her children and grandchildren, especially at Wigilia (the traditional Polish Christmas Eve) and at family gatherings when everyone was together under one roof. Her kindness, generosity, loving spirit, and sense of humor will be sorely missed by all she leaves behind.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 28th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 11:00am in St. Mary's Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Monday, Jan. 27th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Burial in St. Hedwig's Cemetery, Southbridge will be private.
