Sturbridge: Wanda A. (Bernard) Chamberland, 89, of Cedar St., ended her journey on this earth peacefully on Sunday, June 13 ^th , in the Southbridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, after a long illness.

Her husband, Rosario A. Chamberland, passed away in 1996.  She leaves her four sons, Thomas A. Chamberland and his wife Diane of Sturbridge, William E. Chamberland and his wife Joan of Sturbridge, Russell R. Chamberland and his wife Sharon of Sturbridge and Edward H. Chamberland and his wife Elizabeth of Sturbridge; her five grandchildren, Christine Chamberland of Sturbridge, Brian Chamberland and his fiancé Erin Sanna of Mechanicsville, PA, Sarah Stanfield and her husband Brian of Hawaii, Sally Chamberland-Maher and her husband Bobby of Tolland, CT and David Chamberland of Sturbridge; her great granddaughter, Elizabeth Chamberland; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her grandson, Jason Chamberland in 1991.  She was born in West Warren the daughter of Ernest and Bridgett (Koscien) Bernard.

Wanda worked at the Sturbridge Candy and Gift Store, Big Bunny Supermarket in Southbridge and Cracker Barrell in Sturbridge, retiring many years ago.  She was a Red Base Fire Phone Operator for the Sturbridge Fire Department for many years and was a founding member of the Sturbridge Fire Department Auxiliary.  She was a member of St. Anne and St. Patrick Parish in Sturbridge and a founding member of its St. Anne Sodality; an active member and past president of the American Legion Post 109 Auxiliary in Sturbridge; and a member of the Sturbridge Senior Center.  She served on the Town of Sturbridge Democratic Committee and also served on the Mass State Democratic Committee.   She enjoyed painting, especially Tole painting, and also enjoyed gardening.

Her family would like to thank the staff on the third floor of the Southbridge Rehab Center for all of the care and compassion they gave to Wanda.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, June 17 ^th , from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00am in St. Anne Church, 16 Church St., Sturbridge.  Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Sturbridge.  Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, June 16 ^th , from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
